Comprehensive Eye Exam

At Oakland Eye Care, our comprehensive eye exams are designed to detect early signs of vision changes and eye disease—often before symptoms appear. Early detection allows for more effective treatment and long-term protection of your vision.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends a baseline eye exam at age 40. However, individuals with risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease should be evaluated sooner. Adults 60 and older are encouraged to schedule annual exams to monitor for age-related conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
Each exam includes:

  • A review of your medical history, lifestyle, and symptoms
  • A detailed evaluation of the eyes and eyelids using magnification and light
  • Pupil dilation (if needed) for a full internal eye assessment
  • Tonometry to measure eye pressure and screen for glaucoma

After the exam, we’ll review your results and discuss any necessary treatments or vision correction options.
